Dr. Wallen specializes in providing prosthetic implants to treat patients with erectile dysfunction as well as those with stress urinary incontinence that has not responded to non-surgical therapies.

One of the most common types of prosthetic for addressing erectile dysfunction is the inflatable-type implant. This kind of prosthesis is inflated with fluid (rather than air), which can be pumped into it when needed. Inflatable implants allow for complete invisibility of the device when not in use and may have a more natural feeling for users than other types of implants. Another option is the malleable penile prosthesis. Unlike inflatable implants, this type of prosthesis maintains the same rigidity and length at all times. Malleable penile implants are a relatively simple surgery that can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Men who have a certain type of urinary incontinence that can’t be treated medically may benefit from a procedure to implant an artificial sphincter. This often applies to men whose incontinence is due to removal of their prostate. Artificial sphincter placement has been shown to be successful for up to 90 percent of patients, and this type of implant has a high satisfaction rate among men.
