Relatively recent breakthroughs in the field of minimally invasive urologic surgery have led to dramatic improvements in patient comfort, recovery time and long-term functionality. Today, most prostate surgery is performed via minimally invasive methods that employ the use of laparoscopic instruments and/or robotic guidance systems. Over the years, the techniques for performing these procedures have been honed and improved to the point that they are now the standard of care for all patients. Dr. Wallen is specially trained in these techniques, whereby an entire surgical procedure can be performed via one or more tiny “keyhole” incisions.  Below are a few examples of the most advanced, minimally invasive surgical procedures in which Dr. Wallen specializes.

  • Robotic prostatectomy
  • Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy
  • Minimally invasive corrective surgery for pelvic organ prolapse
  • Urethral and vaginal reconstruction
